There is nothing like a global pandemic to make you evaluate what is important in life. Is it how much wealth we amass during our lifetime? How about the number of degrees we earn? How about the number of likes and views we get on our blog posts? To me what is important is that we are happy. If we can go to bed at night happy with ourselves, sure that win or lose we tried our best to be the person we want to be, then we have accomplished everything we set out to.
The world today is everything but safe. Just today I got the call that there are 5 positive Covid cases at my 90 year old Grandmother's nursing home. My daughter is preparing to go back to college, fully expecting another shut down mid semester. I am preparing to begin a new career in the classroom, teaching 10 year-olds science, knowing we will all wear masks and social distance, and knowing we will still be in danger of spreading this virus. What should be a wonderfully exciting time in all our lives has become a time of uncertainty and doubt. We all need an epiphany.....
